Creating Document Templates
Creating document templates in ETB Developer is a streamlined process that allows you to build both Proposal and Design templates tailored to your company’s needs. This guide walks you through each step of the creation process.
Step 1: Navigate to the Document Template Library
1. From the top navigation bar, click the ‘More’ drop-down menu.
2. Select ‘View All Document Templates’.
3. You’ll be taken to the View All Document Template table , where you can view and manage all existing templates.
Step 2: Start a New Template
1. Click the ‘+ Document Template’ button.
2. A dropdown will appear prompting you to choose:
Blank Templates: Start from scratch and build your document from the ground up.
Gallery Template: Choose from pre-built templates in the Document Template Gallery.
Both of these options allow you to create 2 types of documents:
- Proposal Template – for general, non-design-specific documents (e.g., About Us, contracts, educational content).
- Design Template – for documents tied to a specific system design (e.g., PV system specs, rate schedule, cost/savings analysis).
Tip: Energy Toolbase regularly adds new templates to the gallery - check back often to refresh content.
Step 3: Customize your Template
When you select a gallery template:
- A copy is created with "- Copy" appended to the name.
- You'll be directed to the "Edit Document Template" screen.
- From here, you can:
- Modify text, images, and layout.
- Insert dynamic fields
- Apply your company's branding and styling
