ETB Controller™ Installation Instructions: Section 3 - SEL-735 Configuration Guide for Tesla Sites
Summary:
The following article is to provide steps for configuring the SEL-735 meter. Before you start, ensure you are using a Windows 10/11 computer, have the SEL-C662 Serial to USB cable, and if a standard USB port is not available on your computer, a USB-A to USB-C adapter (or equivalent for your computer).
Installing Software:
Before connecting any hardware, the relevant SEL software should be installed. This will require a verified SEL account to access the downloads. The account can be requested through SEL's website (https://selinc.com/) and may take 24-48 hours to be granted the necessary permissions.
- Install the acSELerator QuickSet SEL-5030 Software
- Instructions, including software installation steps, can be found HERE
- Install the driver for the SEL-C662 Serial to USB-A cable
Connecting to the Meter:
- Connect the SEL-C662 cable to the Serial port (Port 2) in the back of the meter
- Plug the USB end into your computer
(this may require an adapter if you only have USB-C ports on your machine) - Configure the AcSELerator QuickSet software:
- Click Communications at the top
- Click Parameters
- Click the dropdown under Active Connection Type then choose Serial
- Below the dropdown, click the Serial tab
- Select the Device option that shows USB to UART Bridge
(If this is missing, check your physical connection to the meter and ensure the device is being recognized by your computer with the correct device driver) - Ensure Data Speed is set to Auto detect and all other settings are left as default
- Click Apply and OK to attempt the connection
- Once you see Connected at the bottom left of the screen you are ready to continue
Uploading a Configuration File:
You should receive a separate configuration file for each of the meters on site - they will be labeled as SiteName_MeterLoad_MeterNumber. In order to prevent communication issues, ensure each file is only uploaded to the appropriate meter.
- Once connected and communicating with a meter, click File then Open
- Use the dropdown or the Select a different Settings Database option to locate and select the correct configuration file
- Leave other settings as default then click OK
- Click the arrow next to General then select Identifier and Scaling. Verify the following settings are correct for your site: CT Ratio (CTR) & PT Ratio (PTR)
- Once you are ready to deploy the settings to the meter, click the Send Active Settings button at the top of the screen
- Once the upload is complete, you can disconnect
- Repeat steps 1-6 for additional meter(s)
