Field Recovery Kit Introduction
1.0 Introduction
This installation guide provides information and installation instructions for the different types of field remote recovery kits that ETB provides. The Field Recovery Kit is a toolkit that contains different integrated parts that includes a PiKVM (a fully functional Raspberry Pi-based KVM over IP), wireless router, power cables, connection cables, and a spare EMS (a ruggedized PC - only included in Doug kit).
Over time we have seen issues in the field that are difficult or impossible to diagnose and treat remotely. These issues may be due to site networking configuration changes, EMS networking hardware issues, local power issues, or a host of EMS software/OS issues.
By using a networked KVM Switch that we ship out to sites requiring advanced troubleshooting, our team will gain control over an EMS in a manner equivalent to being physically present with a keyboard and display. Pairing a KVM with a dedicated cellular modem gives us a known-good networking configuration that we can use to eliminate operational risks related to relying on the site’s network to be available and amenable to our work.
