NY (VDER) - Value of Distributed Energy Resources
NY (VDER) program description: New York's Value of Distributed Energy Resources is a new method for determining compensation from solar projects. This program's main goal is to develop accurate pricing that best represents the actual value Distributed Energy Resources (DER's) create to encourage NY developers, utilities, and customers to optimize the economic value of DER projects. NY SUN has developed a solar value-stack calculator to help developers better estimate the value they will be allowed to collect from exported storage. Based on specific project & compensation inputs, developers will have an average compensation value for storage in $/kWh.
How we handle in ETB: Energy Toolbase is currently set up better than anyone else to model this. With the solar value-stack calculator, you can now take that average compensation for storage and input it into our platform. When creating an Energy Use Profile, users take the simple step of inserting that 'compensation value' into the 'Wholesale Energy Rate.'
With NY now allowing storage exports, in the Energy Storage System (ESS) Details' go to 'Show Additional Details' and will simply check the 'ESS can export to the grid' box in the Energy Arbitrage & Self Consumption section.
