ETB Controller™ Installation Instructions: Section 3 - Metering & CT's
3.0 eGauge 4x15 metering installation
The eGauge meter should be installed per manufacturer instructions pertaining to location, CT terminals, voltage references, and internet connection.

Energy Toolbase, Inc. strongly recommends installing the unit as close to the EMS as possible for ease of physical networking connection into the device LAN.
Some ESS manufacturers have an approved location available for a clean and neat installation. Please refer to Section 2 of the Acumen EMS Installation Instructions for manufacturer specific locations.
3.1 eGauge CT terminations
Energy Toolbase, Inc. prescribes a standard CT wiring convention at the eGauge terminal block. This will enable an efficient and streamlined commissioning process. For a clean wiring convention, phases A, B, and C should correspond to sequentially increasing terminal connections on the eGauge unit (e.g. A=1, B=2, C=3). Following this specific guidance will enable the most effective commissioning support from Energy Toolbase, Inc (please refer to Acumen Wiring Diagram drawing EMS_3 for more detail on eGauge wiring and conventions):
1) Connect voltage references for L1, L2, and L3 with phases A, B, and C; in that order. These phase references must coincide with phase connections on the CT leads to properly receive energy readings.
2) ESS metering: CT terminals 1, 2, and 3 are utilized for phases A, B, and C; in that order
3) Photovoltaic metering: CT terminals 4, 5, and 6 are utilized for phases A, B, and C; in that order.
4) Building load metering: CT terminals 13, 14, and 15 are utilized for phases A, B and C; in that order.
Note:
1) An additional 6 CT terminals are available on the EG4015 meter. These two groups of 3 ports (aux1 and aux2) are reserved for additional metering on site per unique conditions.
2) Additional meters for circumstances like difficult cabling runs (+300ft.) can be supported. Please consult Energy Toolbase Inc. for further instruction. If meters are connected to a corporate network on-site and isolated from the device network, a static IP address on that corporate network must be assigned by local IT administration for any additional meter.
3) When preparing to install the meter, ensure to coordinate an action plan with a building representative if you need to power down the facility.
3.2 Extending CT leads
Splicing. When the extension of factory CT leads is required, it is imperative that the splicing be done properly and verified with a field test. eGuage recommends a soldered connection for CT splices to ensure reliable continuity and long lasting connections.
Tests can be performed with resistance readings as follows:
1. Remove the CT from its measured conductor and close the loop (no current should be running through the CT)
2. At the CT, prior to the splice, measure resistance from one CT lead to the other. Record this data
3. Complete the splice
4. At the termination end of the extended lead, measure resistance from one CT lead to the other. This value should match the recorded value at the CT
Lead Extensions. When extending CT leads, eGauge recommends splicing close to the CT to ensure there are no coils of cable within the CT lead. Cable used to extend the lead must be a twisted pair of stranded 18-22 AWG wire.
CT leads cannot extended beyond 100'. If distance of run exceeds 100', a second eGauge meter will be required. Please contact ETB Operations for support.
*CT LEAD WIRE RUNS SHOULD NOT CONTAIN BUNDLED OR COILS OF EXCESS WIRE. FACTORY LEADS CAN BE CUT CLOSE TO THE CT BEFORE SPLICING ONTO LEAD EXTENTIONS.
3.3 Meter reading validation
After the CT’s and meter have been installed, the onsite electrician should utilize a clamp or fluke meter and check each onsite CT reading against the readings within the eGauge. This exercise can be done by logging into the eGauge and viewing the CT trace measurements directly, or with support of ETB engineering. When requesting ETB engineering support, please provide the ETB Operations manager 24-48 hours’ notice prior to onsite work requiring support.

3.4 eGuage access and configuration
Prior to connecting the eGauge meter to ETB Controller™, ensure that the meter has been successfully installed according to the eGauge Installation Guide. All voltage and CT connections are assumed to be configured and internet connectivity should be set up.
Meters supplied by ETB come pre-configured and will require minor adjustments to the site specific details. Once the meter is installed and connected to the internet, ETB support will work with the local installer to remotely complete final configuration.
Note:
1) If meters are connected to a corporate network and isolated from the device network, Energy Toolbase requires that a static IP address on that corporate network be assigned by local IT administration for the additional meter.
3.4.1 Update the eGauge Login Permissions
If a meter has been reset or procured directly through eGauge, this step must be performed on location by the installer. Energy Toolbase, Inc. will not be able to access the eGauge remotely without this change.
1) Login to the eGauge as “owner.” You must be on the same LAN as the eGuage is connected. https://<EGAUGE_DEVICE_ID>.egauge.es or use the “Find My Device” option from the eGauge Home Page at https://www.egauge.net

b. login = default
2) Navigate to the device “Settings”
3) Click on “Access Control”
4) Change the privileges for ‘owner’ to be “Allow to view all data and change settings from anywhere”
5) Then click “save” to confirm setting changes.
