Network Troubleshooting: On-Site Network (Non-LTE)
Summary:
Temporary loss of internet will not prevent the EMS from continuing to control the battery, but we cannot guarantee how long the EMS and battery can continue to operate during an internet outage.
Parasitic losses during extended communications outages may result in permanent ESS damage.
The following instructions are for sites where network is provided to the ETB Controller (EMS) via the on-site network through a switch or wireless bridge.
Troubleshooting Steps:
- Verify power is on and avialable at the Energy Storage unit.
-
Validate the internet connection by plugging the ethernet cable from the switch or wireless bridge into a laptop and attempt to reach an external webpage.
- If internet is not available:
- Contact the site network administrator and confirm there are no internet access issues at the site and that no network changes (such as to the firewall) have been made.
- If there are site internet access issues, those issues will need to be resolved before further EMS troubleshooting can be done.
- If there have been changes made to the network, have your site network administrator ensure the correct EMS network configuration is reestablished. See section 4.3 Network Configuration on our ETB Controller™ Installation Instructions: Section 4 - Site Internet Configuration document.
- If internet is available:
- Reboot the EMS by unplugging the power cable for 30 seconds then plugging it back in.
*The refresh time in Monitor generally occurs in 15-minute intervals but it may be necessary to wait 30 minutes to ensure the system comes up fully and has started reporting to monitor before leaving the site. * - If power cycling the EMS does not correct the issue, notify ETB support with a detailed description of the issue and all troubleshooting steps performed.
- Reboot the EMS by unplugging the power cable for 30 seconds then plugging it back in.
